Embarrassing Fat Bodies
About the Show
As the nation's waist size spirals out of control, the Embarrassing Bodies doctors help the seriously overweight cope with illnesses caused by obesity
Series 2 Summary
The Embarrassing Bodies doctors take on the nation's biggest health problem - obesity. From sorting problems between the sheets to treating overflowing toilet troubles, the doctors discover the unwanted side effects of being overweight and meet people who have been eating themselves off the scales.
Episode 1 - Between the Sheets
The doctors discover how obesity can ruins sex lives. From getting it on, to not getting it at all, there's no bedroom bother the doctors won't tackle.
Dr Christian meets a man desperate to start a family, but whose 37 stone has left him in an awkward position to make love to his wife. Dr Dawn helps a bride to be with penetration problems and a woman whose breasts alone push her body mass index into the obese category.
Dr Pixie meets a man who got on his bike and lost a staggering 27 stone, but now has a legacy of loose skin, which can ruin those intimate moments.
Also, with sex and food releasing the same pleasure-stimulating chemical in our brain, Dr Dawn's getting to the bottom of what really turns women on... sex or cake?
Episode 2 - Layers of Fat
Dr Christian meets a woman whose excessive eating has left her hauling around a massive growth on her leg that weighs the same as a small child.
Dr Dawn meets a man who, despite losing half his body weight, is so laden with surplus skin that it slaps against his body when he's working out at the gym.
Dr Pixie helps a woman who wheels round her kitchen on an office chair because her joints and circulation cannot take her 33 stone weight.
Dr Christian piles on three stone with the help of a 'fat suit' and undergoes a series of intense experiments that push his puffed-up body to the limit.
Dr Dawn and Dr Pixie visit Glasgow, one of the fattest cities in the world.
And Dr Dawn and volunteer Karen check in at Coventry's University Hospital's Flab Lab to be locked away for a 24-hour groundbreaking experiment where every bodily function - from poo to pee, eating to sweating - is monitored to find out how fat works and what it does to us.
Episode 3 - Toilet Troubles
The doctors examine how being overweight can impact on toilet habits, featuring digestive disorders caused by overeating such as heartburn, constipation and gallstones.
There's also some guts that won't stop gushing, a type 2 diabetic whose diarrhoea disasters are putting strain on every organ in his body, and a woman whose weighty plumbing problem is so bad she's installed a portable toilet in her bedroom.
Episode 4 - Over Eaters
The doctors meet patients with food phobias and calorie addictions, including one man who eats 6000 calories per day.
Dr Pixie offers help to a lady whose overeating is turning her insides out and causing a massive hernia.
Dr Christian meets a yo-yo dieter who has lost and gained 14 stone four times and is desperate for help after a gastric bypass operation failed.
Dr Christian also meets a woman whose food phobia means she's never eaten a piece of fruit or a vegetable.
In the Flab Lab the doctors find out how and why cholesterol is vital for the body, and how too much of the bad kind is a killer.
And Dr Pixie throws a tea party for a group of hungry youngsters to understand why they go for the chip sticks instead of carrots.
Episode 5 - Back to the Clinic
Dr Christian continues the story of Patience, a woman whose excessive eating left her with a growth on her leg the weight of a small child.
Dr Dawn catches up with Mike to see if surgery has curbed his 6000-calorie-a-day diet.
Dr Pixie sees if 33-stone Sara, a woman who was so large she wheeled round her kitchen on an office chair, is back on her feet for good.
In the pop-up clinic Dr Dawn meets a woman whose unusual fatty lump meets a grisly end with a state-of-the-art technique.
Dr Pixie joins a fa- fighting boot camp and Dr Christian dons a three-stone fat suit to discover the pressures our bodies are under when we pile on the pounds.
